Description
To operate legally, an NGO in South Africa can register with both the **Department of Social Development (DSD) and the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC).
DSD Registration (as a Non-Profit Organization or NPO): Requires a completed application form, founding documents, and details of office bearers. This process takes about **30 to 60 working days** and grants legal recognition and access to public funding.
CIPC Registration: An NGO can also be registered as a Non-Profit Company (NPC). This involves submitting a Memorandum of Incorporation (MOI) and details of directors. CIPC registration typically takes 5 to 10 working days.
Registering with both DSD and CIPC strengthens the organization’s credibility, enables it to open a bank account, apply for tax exemption (via SARS), and receive funding or donations.
We can help you with that registration process while to relax and wait for your official documents to be delivered.
